Look ... if you tip well and they know you, anything is possible.

I get Don Julio poured for me as a slot comp at a lower roller Strip casino. And I mean Don and a full beer for a $20 VP buy. No, they have no clue as to who I am. They just know that I park and drink their on a regular basis ... and TIP WELL. Tipping well means $1-3 a drink, depending on the quality and quantity. And you don't have to live here to take advantage of it. If you are in town on a regular basis, or for an extended stay, just TIP WELL at the bars you usually go to, be cordial (being a dick gets you no where), ... and if it seems they pour off the gun all the time, ask your new friend (the bartender who knows you have been tipping well): What is the best bourbon/tequila/vodka/gin (whatever you are drinking) that isn't on the gun? Think about it: They know you are staying/playing/a regular and taking care of them. There are almost always liquor that they can hand pour. If you are such a cheap ass that you can't see tipping a couple bucks a drink on a long stay (or regular stay), then you deserve the gun-poured rot-gut. If you think about it ... spending even $20 in tips over  a couple days with a bartender who remembers you is worth it. They can pour you a $14 drink on a slot comp for a $2 tip, and it isn't their booze. Ted Newkirk CEO Senior Content Editor http://www.accessvegas.com

Ted, you make some great points.  However, more and more casnios are getting away from the free pour, even with their bottles. Sometimes they cannot free pour a drink.  But if you can get a bartender to pour you some Don Julio while low-rolling it at the slots, then more power to you.
Absolutely. And that is when you walk your ass right down to the next place. Pull up to a bar, tell the bartender you are putting $20 in, and hand him another $20, saying Break this up so I can take care of you. Then tell them our choice of poison and ask them what they can free pour. Hint, hint, hint, hint ... cash to tip them while asking how they can take care of you. If they simply can't free pour ...and/or they pour a lousy drink ... move right on down the road. It helps to be nice, friendly, etc. People skills come into play always. But forget about loyalty to a property. Forget about feeling that you are obligated to anything. This town is set up to drain your wallet. But it is also set up to pamper you big time. When I grocery shop and see a high price on something, I don't buy it. I buy a competing product or go to a different store. Las Vegas is no different. Walk on down the street. Ted

Fred Sanford. <Fred This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message <news:W61Ic.1132$ This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it _link_.net...     About Old Crow...well said!      Thanks.    There is nothing wrong with Old Crow.  It is on par with Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.  And I defy anyone who can tell the difference between Jack or Jim & Coke.  Why not save a buck or 2 and get more bang for your buck? Also, Old Crow is low in fusel oils, meaning less of a hangover the next day, than even some of the premium priced swill.    Good point.  Although, I really don't get hangovers too much anymore.  First off, I don't drink as much as I used to.  Lived in Vegas long enough to drink myself to death.  Funny that I did just get back from a bar and had a few Jack & Cokes tonight.  Second, if you take acidophilus bifidous before you go to sleep it will greatly decrease the chance of getting a hangover.

So the next time you ask for a double and you think you got shorted, remember that they all drinks are computer controlled and that it's not the cocktail waitresses' fault.  Besides, they are constantly being watched by the 'eye in the sky' and will be disciplined as will bartenders if they go over their count (or if they were short on their coin banks, which is also gone and replaced by print out tickets). Ted Newkirk CEO Senior Content Editor http://www.accessvegas.com good point.....even at the low rolling places I go, I get fairly stong drinks (if not premium liquors).

As a bartender, I will let you know that this is one of the BIGGEST  warning signals that you are going to get sh...ted on when it comes to the tip... Pocket Pool P_layer_s and the such... Bartenders aren't dumb by trade.. and much like any other profession... we know the tricks... and we can pretty much separate those who want a good drink and those who want a free drink. ...
